FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Greater
Cincinnati Sports Corp Efforts Bring Hundreds of Teams, Thousands of Athletes
& Families and millions of impact for State Wars Hockey Inline Nationals!
CINCINNATI (July 26, 2009) – The Greater
Cincinnati Sports Corp worked diligently to re-book State Wars Hockey Nationals
for the region. These championships will bring
240 national teams of athletes to Cincinnati USA from 28 states and provinces,
representing more than 7,000 room nights at local hotels and resulting in
approximately $2,086,494 million in economic impact to the region.
The 29th of July, 8am, can't come fast enough...yes,
that is when the first hockey puck will drop for State Wars V and it is only
fitting that the defending 1997 AAA champs Team Colorado will be on the main
rink for this one. That will be the first of more than 730 incredible
hockey games over the next twelve days on three rinks at Sports Plus
Entertainment Complex in Evendale. Admission is free and games run from
8am-midnight most days but a full schedule can be found at www.statewarshockey.com.
“This
national amateur sporting event will have a substantial economic impact on
Northern Hamilton County and our suburbs, which will be felt by hotels,
attractions, restaurants and retail. We delivered
such a great event in 2008, State Wars has chosen us as their national host
city for two additional years,” said
Leslie Spencer, Executive Director, Greater Cincinnati Sports Corporation.
“ We are thrilled to bring State Wars back to Cincinnati for
the second straight year. Over 2200 athletes and their families will be in
attendance this summer representing 28 states and provinces. In such a
difficult economy, our large participation speaks volumes for choosing
Cincinnati for our event return due to the geographic accessibility coupled with
the family-friendly city atmosphere and the service provided by the Greater
Cincinnati Sports Corporation and Sports Plus.”
State Wars Hockey provides a competitive geographically structured national
roller hockey event that gives selected participants a feeling of pride and
honor to represent their home state. Governed by the United States Roller
Hockey Commission (USRHC) and guided by experienced and motivated coaches,
roller hockey players of the same birth year are given the opportunity to
tryout for their state team, which then compete at State Wars for the United
States Roller Hockey Championship.
